FIRST PRESBYTERIAN

This week's spiritual practice is hospitality.  Hospitality is showing friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, and strangers.  Marjorie Thompson in her book Soul Feasts describes it this way.  "Hospitality means receiving the other, from the heart, into my own dwelling place.  It entails providing for the need, comfort, and delight of the other."  It provides space for someone else to be themselves, unjudged and loved. 

 

Extend some form of hospitality this week.  Invite a friend over for a meal, treat someone to coffee or lunch.  As you offer hospitality, pay attention to the ways you are blessed by being with that person.  Treat people as valuable children of God.
